Research the style

Now that you are more clear about your goals and your audience, let’s talk about feelings. How would you like others to feel when they are landing on your website?

Choosing one or more feelings can help you with your color and photography choices.

Examples: clear, empowered, joyous, calm, relaxed, magical, organized, friendly

Find Inspiration

We all need inspiration in order to create. A blank canvas can be very intimidating even for an experienced artist. So finding inspiration is a very important element in this work.  When we want to communicate our idea to the world, it is often a process of trial and error and finding the perfect thing that represents our vision is worth taking time and fine-tuning. Take time to explore, think and feel about this. It should be playful and intuitive if you start feeling overwhelmed, stop and come back at another time. It is very important to trust your intuition and don’t overthink it.

It is useful to look at the websites of people who do similar things. It is also useful to collect websites that you simply just like. Don’t need many. 3 – 3 will do the trick.

Pinterest is a wellspring of inspiration. You can create a Pinterest inspiration board where you collect some images that will help to communicate your idea. You can use the feeling word you found in the previous chapter and add some images based on the feeling. Simply put the word into the Pinterest search bar. You can start looking at Pinterest without searching, just pin images that speak to you.

If you are unsure, go with the elements below and start the research with that.

To help you I created 4 boards for you on Pinterest. They are based on the four elements (Air, Fire, Water and Earth – this is from my astrological studies) It is a good place to start looking for inspiration.

Bright and lively – Air,

Dynamic and lush – Fire,

Subtle and calm – Water,

Bold and strong – Earth
